Caitlin Becker

The Bronx Defenders
Director of Social Work
Bronx, NY
Caitlin Becker(she/her) is the Managing Director of Social Work at the Bronx Defenders. She joined The Bronx Defenders as a social worker in the Family Defense Practice in 2011 and went on to supervise the practice before assuming her current role managing the interdisciplinary social work practice in 2017. She serves on the steering committee for the National Alliance for Parent Representation (hosted by the ABA Center on Children and the Law) and works with the National Association for Public Defense (NAPD)'s Wellness Committee to promote sustainability in defender offices.  She is a member of New York City's Coalition of Social Workers for the Defense (CSWD), promoting a defense lens in social work education.  Caitlin's prior work at a community-based alternative-to-incarceration program and shelters for teens and young adults in NYC and San Diego fueled her interest in working with individuals and families affected by the criminal legal and family policing systems. Prior to joining The Bronx Defenders, Caitlin worked with undergraduates at Fordham University’s Dorothy Day Center for Service and Justice, where she connected students with volunteer opportunities in community-based organizations in the Bronx and collaborated with her colleagues and students to advance the social justice mission of the university.
