Senior Director

Valentina Morales is the senior director of justice initiatives for The Fedcap Group, creator and director of The Women’s Project. Before joining Fedcap, Valentina was a chief regional supervisor at the Mental Hygiene Legal Service (MHLS). She led teams of trial attorneys in representing persons committed to psychiatric hospitals, those receiving court-ordered care, and those with neurodevelopmental disabilities living in state-licensed and state-run facilities. While at MHLS, Valentina led research initiatives to address quality of care issues, consistently advocating to improve hospital policies and practice. Before joining MHLS, she was a senior associate at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP, where she represented sovereigns and state-owned entities in disputes with transnational investors. She also maintained a robust pro bono practice focused primarily on advocating for incarcerated mothers. She began her legal career at the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem, where she created defense programming for monolingual Spanish-speaking clients.
